PK211: Gut Health
This course explores the gut’s role as far more than a digestive organ – it's a central hub for immunity, metabolism, mental health, and overall wellbeing. Advances in microbiome science have revealed how gut bacteria, fungi, and viruses influence everything from inflammation and hormone balance to appetite, mood, and cognitive function. Beyond its microbial inhabitants, the gut’s physical structure and function play a vital role in nutrient absorption, immune defense, and communication with the brain and other organ systems.
